Proven Leadership. Meaningful Results. A Record Worth Re-Electing.
Over the past four years, Judge Kaitlyn Allen has demonstrated steady leadership, practical innovation, and an unwavering commitment to improving outcomes for children and families in juvenile court. Her work on the bench reflects a belief that justice must be both fair and compassionate — and that courts function best when they are transparent, collaborative, and responsive to community needs.
Putting Children First: The Children’s Calming Room
Judge Allen helped lead the creation of a dedicated Children’s Calming Room in partnership with the Courthouse Collaborative. This initiative reflects her commitment to trauma-informed judicial practices and improving the courthouse experience for vulnerable youth.
The calming room:
- Provides a safe, supportive space for children before and after hearings
- Reduces anxiety and emotional distress associated with court involvement
- Supports emotional regulation and stability during proceedings
- Demonstrates practical, child-centered improvements to courthouse operations
This project is a tangible example of Judge Allen’s approach: thoughtful leadership that produces real, lasting impact.
Building Transparency & Community Trust: Annual Courthouse Open House
For the past two years, Judge Kaitlyn Allen along with the entire Oklahoma County Juvenile courthouse team has hosted a unique Courthouse Open House designed specifically for children in foster care. This event reflects her belief that the courthouse should not be a place of fear or uncertainty for children, but one where they feel safe, supported, and valued.
During the open house, the courthouse is intentionally transformed into a welcoming and child-friendly environment. Judges, attorneys, court staff, deputies, and partners — including the Oklahoma Department of Human Services — trade formal attire for jeans and t-shirts, helping remove barriers and create meaningful connection with youth.

The event includes:
- Interactive games inside courtrooms, including corn hole, Pop-A-Shot, and Plinko
- Food and treats such as hot dogs, snow cones, and cotton candy
- Face painting, balloon artists, and prize giveaways
- Opportunities for children to meet and interact with their attorneys, the judge, court staff, deputies, and case workers in a relaxed setting
More than a celebration, the open house serves an important purpose: helping children in foster care see that the people involved in their cases are approachable, supportive, and invested in their success. By creating positive, memorable experiences within the courthouse, Judge Allen is working to reduce anxiety surrounding court appearances and strengthen trust between youth and the professionals serving them.
This initiative exemplifies Judge Allen’s leadership and commitment to child-centered justice — transforming the courthouse from a place children must visit into one where they feel welcomed and understood.
